Choose the Right Path for You
College Credit, Without Sacrificing the High School Experience
Wenatchee High School offers five paths to obtaining college credit alongside a high school diploma. But what are WHS Accelerated Pathways, and how do options at WHS differ from Running Start? Check out the information in the Accelerated Pathways Handbook below for all the information you need to know!
A Direct Transfer Agreement is also known as an Associates Degree.
The associate in arts and sciences direct transfer agreement (AAS-DTA) degree is designed to transfer with junior standing to the participating colleges and universities in Washington state.
Earning an associate (transfer) degree is especially important if you plan to attend a four-year institution with a selective admissions policy.
Thanks to the state Intercollegiate Relations Committee agreement, a transfer degree from Wenatchee Valley College guarantees transfer with junior standing to 16 colleges and universities in Washington state. Merely completing two years of schooling at WVC without the degree may not give you all of the necessary courses for junior standing.
Virtually all WVC courses will transfer, but not all undergraduate courses will help with your major. The sooner you select your major and the school to which you wish to transfer, the better you can choose the classes that will be most useful. Each four-year school has its own transfer requirements. View the available course equivalencies at WHS here.
Specialized DTA
Complete most of an Associate of Arts and Sciences Degrees at WHS, including Engineering Technology, Early Childhood Education, and more. Students can use the specialized 2-year degree to enter the workforce or transfer to a 4-year college or university. All AA/AAS degrees are awarded through Wenatchee Valley College.

Gain real-world experience through workplace skills and certifications at WHS!
A Program of Study is a series of classes within a career field. The goal of these classes is to give students real world, hands-on education and training in the career field of their interest. Students must take at least four classes with a program area.
Classes in the Programs of Study offer opportunities for students to earn industry recognized certifications. Many of these courses are also designed to connect students with on the job training in the form of Jobs Shadows, Internships, and Mentoring programs. As our students complete their time at WHS we will work to connect them to Trade Schools or Colleges that would complete their training in a desired field of work.
The Running Start program you know and love.
Students attend college courses at the Wenatchee Valley College campus with the opportunity to earn a Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA)/AA degree.
Running Start allows juniors and seniors in high school to take courses, full- or part-time, at Wenatchee Valley College. The program provides students with a greater variety of course offerings and the opportunity to pursue challenging study. The tuition is free, but does not cover the cost of fees and required textbooks. Students who participate in Running Start for both their junior and senior years often earn an associate’s degree which is transferable to all in state universities.
